Contractor COVID-19 Protocols While on District Property

The Contractor and/or Consultant along with their subcontractors and subconsultants, hereafter referred to as 鈥淐ontractor鈥� shall follow these Protocols as a condition of being permitted on District property. The dually executed Agreement for the Contractor鈥檚 Services shall be the governing document and this Protocol document is intended to be supplementary.  The Contractor acknowledges that when it relates to COVID-19, the Contractor shall adjust business operations to comply with COVID-19 specific safety guidelines prescribed by federal, state, and local governmental agencies, including the San Diego Heath & Human Services Agency (HHSA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), and Cal/OSHA. The Contractor further acknowledges that all safety guidelines prescribed and updated by federal, state, and local governmental agencies, including the HHSA, CDC, CDPH, and Cal/OSHA shall be always followed and that this Protocols document should be treated as additional, providing the District with the greatest levels of protection. Failure to comply with any of the Protocols identified herein, may subject the Contractor鈥檚 employee(s) to immediate removal from the District鈥檚 premises. 

As a requirement to perform Services on campus, the Contractor agrees that its employees shall adhere to the following.

  1. Contractor shall train employees on how to limit the spread of COVID-19 pursuant to the symptoms as identified by the CDC and Cal/OSHA, including but not limited to the following:
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fever or chills
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle por body aches
    • Headache
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea, vomiting, and Diarrhea
  2. Contractor shall train employees according to the Cal/OSHA COVID Emergency Temporary Standard on safety measures including but not limited to the following:
    • Excluding employees with symptoms / positive test and close contact unvaccinated employees 
    • How to identify and evaluate COVID-19 hazards
    • The fact that COVID-19 is an infectious disease primarily spread through the air
    • The importance of not coming to work and getting tested if an employee has symptoms
    • The fact that vaccination is effective at preventing COVID-19, protecting against both transmission and serious illness or death.
  3. Implement control measures
    • Contractor shall provide an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face coverings to all its employees to wear,
    • Contractor employees shall always wear face coverings indoors while on District property.
    • Direct all employees to:
      • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
      • Use hand sanitizer/wipes when soap and water are not available (Contractor shall supply and make available hand sanitizer/wipes)
      • Cover cough or sneeze 
  4. Implement cleaning and disinfecting protocols
    • Contractor shall ensure that adequate cleaning and disinfecting supplies are available at every job site on District premises
    • Contractor shall ensure that all equipment, objects, and surfaces are routinely cleaned
    • Contractor shall ensure any equipment, objects, and surfaces used by a confirmed COVID-19 case is disinfected within 24 hours.
  5. Implement COVID-19 case investigations
    • For all COVID case investigations, determine date case was last at workplace, date of positive test / symptom onset, locations the case visited on district property, and list of close contacts
    • Notify the District if any close contacts are employees, students, or volunteers of the District
    • Notify the District if the COVID case accessed any District property that is accessible by District employees, students, or volunteers
