Clothing & hygiene drive for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week 2025
Hygiene Kit Drive - Hygiene Items Needed!
For the month of October, we are collecting hygiene items to assemble hygiene kits for students in need. We are specifically seeking travel-sized or individually packaged items in bulk. Staff, students & community members welcomed to donate. Last day to donate is October 31st.

2025 Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week
Join us for Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week to learn more about the issues and resources that address hunger and homelessness. Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week occurs during November.
The events organized by the CARE (Campus Assessment, Resources, & Education) Team will be starting Tuesday, November 11th- Thursday, November 13th for our kickoff week and from Monday, November 17th- Saturday, November 22nd for a full week of events in collaboration with many Student Services Departments and off-campus community organizations to focus on advocacy, education, fundraising, resources, and service
Student attendees will be entered in multiple opportunity drawings for giftcards supporting basic needs as well as receive free swag and food! Students who attend three or more "opportunity drawing eligible" events will be entered into a grand opportunity drawing for a $100 gift card of their choice or two free monthly bus passes (a $115 value).

The Breakfast Bar offers students the opportunity to grab free breakfast items and chat with staff about upcoming Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week Events.

HSI Latinx Hour On The Lawn- Affirmations Y Pan Con Champurrado
Location: Oceanside Campus, Central Lawn (by the Clock Tower)

Join us during Latinx Hour on the Lawn to write an affirmation to uplift another student鈥攁nd take one with you to brighten your day. Enjoy pan dulce & champurrado, and choose a song to add to the student DJ mix.
Helping Hour: Hygiene Kit Assembling

Join Phi Theta Kappa and Gender Sexuality Alliance for the Helping Hour to assemble hygiene kits to be donated to our on-campus showers to give students access to essentials when using these facilities.

Cook With Us! Cooking Demo For Student- Parents

Come and participate in a Food Demonstration! Student parents will learn how to create meals with healthy ingredients that are low to no-cook necessary and easy to prepare for you and your family. Kids welcome!

鈥淎dios Amor鈥 Film Screening
Location: Oceanside Campus, Little Theater, OC3601

Join CARE and the Ethnic Studies Department for a film screening with light refreshments and a Q&A Panel. This film, Adios Amor, centers on Maria Moreno, a migrant mother who sacrificed everything but her twelve kids in the passionate pursuit of justice for farmworkers.

Come join us to receive holiday-related dry goods and produce items sponsored by Feeding San Diego. Students will be able to connect with community organizations, and access the clothing that is happening until 4 pm. Students should be prepared to bring or know their Student ID#.

Come and receive step-by-step assistance from a County of San Diego Human Services Specialist while filling out an application on BenefitsCal for CalFresh (aka EBT/Food Stamps) , CalWORKs (aka Cash Aid), and/or Medi-Cal. Bringing supporting documentation is NOT required to start an application on BenefitsCal, but is encouraged.

This is a great opportunity for students to earn service learning credit and volunteer hours for scholarships. RSVP is required as there are only 20 spots and limited transportation available.
