Welcome! Academic Support & Innovation Center (ASIC) provides free student support for course content and helps students develop the necessary skills for effective learning while creating a comfortable and inspiring environment for all students. We provide a variety academic support avenues including Supplemental Instruction (SI), drop-in tutoring, tutoring appointments, embedded tutoring, and student success workshops.

Supplemental Instruction

SI logo

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a non-remedial learning approach that helps students succeed by combining "what to learn" with "how to learn." SI involves regular, out-of-class group study sessions led by SI Leaders鈥攕tudents who have mastered the course material. These leaders attend lectures, take notes, and guide group sessions to help peers better understand the material, develop study strategies, and prepare for exams. SI is a free, voluntary service targeting challenging courses, not individual students, ensuring no remedial stigma is attached. Students of all academic levels and backgrounds are encouraged to participate.

The semester is full of things to look forward to, and each week is different than the last. The best part is the training sessions when all the SI Leaders get together to learn about learning while having a ton of fun.
